Teeth Whitening

Brighter Teeth in Mermaid Beach

Teeth whitening is a safe, efficient and effective way to help your teeth look brighter and healthier. For many of our patients at Mermaid Smiles, it’s the perfect solution for a mini smile makeover.

Why Should I Whiten My Teeth?

Whitening before Cosmetic Treatment

If you’re about to invest in an aesthetic procedure such as dental veneers or bonding, you want your new restorations to be as bright as possible. If visible tooth enamel around them is too dark, those new treatments will stand out and look unnatural. By having your teeth whitened first, your smile will look bright from the beginning.

Whitening before cosmetic treatment also helps us match your new veneers or bonding to a lighter, more refreshed shade – one that you’re happy with long term. Since materials like porcelain and composite resin don’t respond to whitening agents, it’s important to complete any bleaching beforehand to ensure a seamless, natural-looking result.

A Stand-Alone Smile Makeover

For people with smiles that are healthy and already relatively straight, deciding on teeth whitening could give you the smile makeover you’ve been wanting. Simply lifting away deep stains and revealing brighter tooth enamel that’s multiple shades whiter can have a significant impact on the way your teeth look.

Since professional teeth whitening is one of the most affordable cosmetic treatments that we offer, it’s a great way to invest in your smile without having to plan out multiple trips to our office for other procedures.

You can enjoy whiter teeth or decide later on to go ahead and enhance them even more with other aesthetic services after your smile has been whitened.

Types of Teeth Whitening

Depending on your situation, we may recommend one of two types of whitening treatments: take-home or an in-house application.

With a take-home system, we fit you with custom fitted trays that hold professional strength gel. Wear your appliances for at least one hour per day. You’ll start to see results after a few days, with full whitening achieved within 1-2 weeks.

Same-day or “in-house” whitening involves a single appointment where we apply a concentrated bleaching gel to your teeth and use a special light to activate the stain oxidation process. The gel is rinsed away and re-applied 2-3 more times until we’ve achieved desired results.
